After spending over a decade investigating the root causes of racial and socioeconomic inequality, eruka’s founder, Junia Howell, began envisioning how a people-powered movement could reimagine housing and finance services to create a just economy.

In June 2022, eruka was incorporated as a nonprofit. The aim of the organization is to innovate and offer alternative housing and finance services, transforming economic systems around the globe. eruka is succeeding when our work decreases racial wealth gaps, increases housing affordability, curtails climate change, expands Indigenous land practices, and equalizes national gross domestic products.
